Old-school Paris craftsmanship meets New York modern sensibility in Camille Parruitte’s line Nouvel Heritage. The designer breaks down the duality of the impact that these two cities have on the jewelry in our latest installment of Small Talk. Read the exclusive interview up on our blog now.
Below, Camille answers BE’s mini questionnaire.
How does Nouvel Heritage reflect both your French background and your New York home?
Nouvel Héritage lives at the intersection of Paris and New York, two cities that have shaped our identity in powerful, complementary ways. From France, we inherit the legacy of fine jewelry craftsmanship: precision, refinement, and a deep respect for artistry. Every piece is crafted in France to reflect this commitment to excellence and to celebrate a savoir-faire that continues to inspire the world. At the same time, Nouvel Héritage also lives in New York, a city defined by boldness, freedom, and constant reinvention. Together, they shape a new kind of heritage; one that connects tradition and innovation, emotion and intention.
If Nouvel Heritage was a neighborhood in New York, which do you think it would be?
The West Village feels like us: timeless but never traditional, intimate yet expressive. It has that effortless charm, with layers of stories behind every corner. It’s a neighborhood where authenticity, creativity, and luxury coexist, just like in our jewelry.
Which signature design elements are part of the aesthetic DNA of the brand?
At Nouvel Héritage, our aesthetic is rooted in contrast: between structure and softness, tradition and reinvention. We also have an obsession with functionality as form. The clasp is never just a closure, it becomes the signature. On our Mood Bangle, the clasp or “piercing” is the highlight, turning an essential mechanism into a statement of identity. Similarly, our Latch Pendant plays with styling options through its mechanical function. It opens, slides and adapts to different lengths inviting the wearer to reinterpret it endlessly.
Where is the brand heading next? Any exciting news coming up that you’re able to share?
This year we are unveiling a new pillar collection: Try Me. It’s a bold exploration of vulnerability and power, of breaking and rebuilding. Inspired by the symbolic act of forging a chain, Try Me reinterprets the classic link with fragmented forms and U-shaped spikes. It’s an aesthetic that challenges the idea of strength: less about armor, more about self-awareness.
What are some of your favorite pieces that are available at Broken English?
A few of my everyday essentials never leave my wrist: my trio of Mood Bangles. Three is my lucky number, so I wear them stacked.
The Latch Pendant is also a go-to. I alternate between the long and medium chain depending on the day and what I’m wearing. It’s versatile, sculptural, and always sparks conversation.
For evenings out, or when I just want a moment of sparkle, I gravitate toward the Eternity Tuxedo Mood Earrings or the Under The Stars pair. They add a subtle spotlight on my outfit, like punctuation at the end of a sentence.
