BE’s Founder Laura Freedman knows a thing or two about the ebb and flow of jewelry trends, and notes 2026 as a year of freedom in styling, bold proportions and designers who specialize in “classic with a twist”. Read on to get the low down on what will be huge this coming year.
What are ways you’re noticing how you’re styling jewelry, what your customers are looking for in terms of stacking/layering or how designers are proposing their pieces?
I’m seeing a lot of oversized proportions and isolating these pieces to really stand out on their own. From large beads to single-stone cocktail rings and sculptural cuffs, the focus is staying on these big pieces with minimal dainty pieces, if any, accompanying them. However, this trend isn’t for everyone. Multiple piercing stories are still super popular as well as stacking rings and wrist fulls of thin bangles. It’s nice to see strength in numbers with repeats of similar silhouettes for more clean and streamlined layers.
Is there a new way to wear something you haven’t seen before or haven’t seen in quite some time?
We have so many great statement pendants at BE and I think it’s really fun when they’re worn backwards on a unique chain with a backless dress or top. I also love the power of two, wide matching bracelets or cuffs like the fast-selling Sidney Garber’s big rolling bracelets. The double bracelet is kind of a classic style idea now, but never seems to get old for me or my customers.
Who are the it-designers making their stride? Who is selling fast at BE?
Wow, there are so many designers who are really having a moment. Specifically at BE we’re seeing Engelbert and E. Luntz selling really well. I think everyone is responding strongly to both designers’ "classic with a twist” point of views with their identifiable shapes and interesting textures making them easy to wear and timeless. These lines have a lot of staying power for sure.
Is there a designer that’s having a comeback?
Lalaounis! The storied Greek brand founded in the late 60’s has obviously been around for some time but the textural and effortless designs look as great in the city as they do on vacation, which I think is drawing people to them more than ever. Nowadays everyone is always looking for an escape and they definitely want some great investment jewelry that will serve them well on holidays too.
What designers are on the rise? Is there a new designer you’re launching at BE? Or one you’re really excited about joining the roster?
We’ve had a lot of incredible designers come over to BE lately but I’m so excited about Pippa Small and Type right now. Their vibes are both so different but resonate with our customers as well as colorful and playful everyday pieces that make everyday feel so much more luxurious.
Is there a category that is having a real moment with lots of variety or a subcategory that’s coming back in a big way, ie bangles or cocktail rings?
I’m really loving that everyone is embracing dome rings. They’re kind of like a day-to-day cocktail ring, wearable but still special without requiring a special occasion. We have so many designers doing an interpretation of this shape like Pamela Zamore and Jenna Blake.
What stones or materials are you seeing a lot of right now as we get into spring and summer?
Colorful gems in bright tones are everywhere, especially sapphires and tourmalines in every hue. Beaded strands in great shades aren’t going anywhere also, so even if you’re a bit of a minimalist I urge you to give a little color a chance!
Are there specific-shaped charms or talismans you’re seeing? Large and puffy proportions or dainty minimalist? Sculptural shapes?
Personal talismans are still holding steady in popularity. I think people are looking for individuality and expressing their beliefs and symbols that are genuinely meaningful for them. Authenticity and finding personal accents in jewelry isn’t going anywhere. Our charm and pendant offering is super varied and it brings me joy to see customers connect with certain pieces in a way that holds so much sentimental value.
